Vote on Election Day






What to expect at your voting location

When you arrive at the voting location, please have photo ID ready to be shown:

Go to the table labeled "Registration Table" to start the voting process.

  1. Show your ID and will be asked if you still reside at the location in which the commission shows you registered.
  2. If it is a partisan primary, state your political party.
  3. Sign an application to vote and the poll book verifying your statement.
  4. You will be directed to an operator to get a code to enter on the voting machine to vote.
  5. You will be directed to a voting machine operator where you will give them the signed application to vote.
  6. If you are familiar will the voting machine you will  use the 4-digit code that you were given to access your ballot to vote. If you are not familiar, the machine operator will instruct you on how to use the machine.

    Acceptable IDs even if expired:
  • Tennessee driver license with your photo
  • United States Passport
  • Photo ID issued by the TN Department of Safety and Homeland Security
  • Photo issued by the Federal or Tennessee State Government
  • United States Military Photo ID
  • Tennessee handgun carry permit with your photo

What if I don’t bring a photo ID to the polling place?

If you don’t bring a photo ID, you will vote a provisional ballot.  You will then have two (2) business days after Election Day to return to the Hardeman County Election Commission office to show a valid photo ID. Upon returning to the election commission office, you will sign an affidavit and a copy of your photo ID will be made to be reviewed by the Hardeman County Election Commission.
